This adapter kit allows the legendary Toyota 2UZ-FE V8 to bolt directly to the Toyota H55F 5-speed transmission while retaining Toyota's original drivetrain architecture.
Unlike swap solutions that require relocating the transmission or fabricating complicated clutch systems, this system was engineered to work with OEM Toyota components and maintain a clean, serviceable, factory-style drivetrain layout.
All components are designed and manufactured in the United States, and the system is patent pending.
H55F Transmission Compatibility
This adapter is designed for use with the FJ/HJ-series Toyota H55F 5-speed transmission, the coarse-spline version commonly found in Land Cruisers originally equipped with the 2F, 3F, 2H, and 12HT engines.
The adapter is also compatible with the H41 and H42 transmissions equipped with the 10-spline input shaft, as well as all UZ family engines including the 1UZ-FE and 3UZ-FE.
Factory Bellhousing & Clutch Components
The adapter system uses the factory Toyota 2F/3F bellhousing, along with the factory 2F flywheel, clutch, and clutch hydraulics.

Transmission Position & Crossmember Details
The adapter was designed to maintain the original transmission location in the following vehicles:

- FJ/HJ60 Land Cruisers
- FJ/HJ 70 Series Land Cruisers
In these applications the H55F remains in the factory location and utilizes the factory transmission crossmember and drivetrain geometry.
40 Series & 55 Series Using Later H55F Transmissions
When installing a later-model H55F into a 40 Series or 55 Series that did not originally come with one, the transmission typically does not have the early 40-series top-plate mount used by factory H55 installations.
In these cases, the transmission must be supported by an under-transmission crossmember.

FJ62 Conversions
When installing this system into an FJ62, an aftermarket transmission crossmember is required because the conversion replaces the factory automatic transmission with a manual H55F.

Real-World Driving Characteristics
One of the primary goals of this conversion was to create a drivetrain combination that feels natural and balanced on the road and trail. In real-world driving, the spacing between the gears feels very natural with no noticeable gaps between ratios.
Shift points fall into a comfortable RPM range and do not require revving the engine excessively. The drivetrain works well when shifting at normal driving RPMs, yet the engine still has plenty of range if you want to extend the revs for stronger acceleration.
With 3.70 gears and 33" tires, the drivetrain feels very well matched and provides a comfortable balance of torque and highway drivability. Moving up to a 34" tire still works well with this configuration.
With 4.10 gears and 33" tires, the setup tends to feel slightly over-geared, leaving room to comfortably run 35" tires or larger.
For FJ62 conversions, adding an underdrive gear in the transfer case can be beneficial when running 33" tires or smaller.
Overall, the drivetrain combination feels balanced, predictable, and enjoyable to drive, both on the highway and off-road.
