Automotive Technician / Mechanic

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Technician / Mechanic to perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repair work on gasoline and diesel vehicles. This role involves everything from routine service to complex mechanical and electrical repairs, with a focus on Toyota and Lexus 4WD models.

You’ll work under the direction of the Shop/Service Manager and play a key role in delivering safe, reliable, and high-quality repairs.


What You’ll Do

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic equipment and tools.

  • Perform repairs and replacements on brakes, suspension, transmissions, engines, HVAC, exhaust, and electrical systems.

  • Complete scheduled maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, safety inspections).

  • Use OBD-II scanners, multimeters, and scan tools for troubleshooting (including pre-OBD/OBDII systems).

  • Accurately document labor and parts in the shop management system.

  • Road-test vehicles to confirm quality of repairs.

  • Communicate clearly with service advisors and customers about repair needs and options.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

  • Mentor junior technicians as needed.


What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED (technical training a plus).

  • 5+ years of hands-on automotive technician experience.

  • Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills.

  • Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and wiring diagrams.

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a fast-paced shop environment.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Must provide own tools.

Preferred:

  • ASE certifications (A1–A8 or specialty areas).

  • Toyota/Lexus factory training and/or experience.

  • EPA 609 certification (air conditioning).

  • Diesel experience (including GM or Cummins conversions).


Skills & Strengths

  • Diagnostic problem-solving and logical troubleshooting.

  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and shop technology.

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and dependable.

  • Ability to manage multiple jobs and prioritize effectively.

  • Team player who can also work independently.


Working Conditions

  • Full-time, shop-based role with occasional overtime.

  • Exposure to grease, oil, solvents, loud noise, and varying shop temperatures.

  • Frequent standing, kneeling, bending, climbing, and lifting (up to 50 lbs).

  • PPE required (eye, hand, and hearing protection provided).
